Top 4 Unusual Body Products to Try

I've been testing out these body care products for a few months now and they are definitely my top 4 body care products at the moment. From a sleeping stone to an elixir for the body, I'm sure you'll be able to find something you want to try from my Top 4 list.

Top 4 Body Products

I have to admit, when it comes to skincare, I often neglect my body. I have tons of lotions, serums, cleansers, oils etc for my face but very little for my body. I generally just use The Body Shop's Body Butter and Body washes to do the job. I wanted to explore the World of Body Skin Care products, and I found these four that I thought were unique and unusual!

The fact that they are "different" and "novel", made me curious enough to want to use everyday. Maybe that's my solution for taking more care of my body.

So here are the Four I chose (with non-affiliated links to purchase them):

  1. Ultraderm Essential A Body Serum: AURRP58 (link to shop)

  2. MUKTI Bioactive Bath & Body Elixir: AURRP154.95 (link to shop)

  3. House of Immortelle Relax Rose Massage & Body Oil: AURRP49.98 (link to shop)

  4. Kate Mcleod Sleep Stone Body Moisturizer with lavender and camomile: AURRP75 (link to shop on ondabeauty.com.au) (link to Kate Mcleod)

A Serum for the Body Ultraderm ESSENTIAL A BODY SERUM 120ml

Ultraderm ESSENTIAL A BODY SERUM 120ml
My thoughts:

Ultraderm has created a lovely product with this body serum. It doesn't have a "serum" texture but more a light weight oil feel to it.

It smells heavenly. I feel like I smell like a flower shop after applying this. It has a green scent of florals with a dash of cucumber. You apply it after you take a shower while your skin is a bit damp. I like to apply it while I am in the shower after my wash. One of the reasons why I hate using body care is that some products just take too long to get absorbed into the skin and I'm standing there wet and cold. Not with this baby, it sank right it. Do warm up the product in your hands before applying, it is an oil based product, so depending on the weather, warming it in your hands should always get you the results.

So easy. I keep it on the shower rack.

You can also use it as a bath oil. I didn't want to waste the product, so I only used it once that way. That was such a heavenly bath I had.

You get instant softer skin. Over time, I noticed my skin looking less spotty and dry. This did wonders for my feet too, and kept the cracked heels I suffer from at bay. I felt like it was like a body highlighter as well. Applied on the neck and décolletage makes that area look really pretty.

My husband also started using it. He is a runner. So he runs about an hour a day and was starting to get rashes and chaffing. This fixed him right up. He uses it maybe once or twice a week? He enjoys the "garden" smell of this too.

For the price tag, I think it is worth it. 120ml lasted me a long time. I think I am maybe halfway through? That's with both me and my husband using it.

For those who are worried about back acne, this didn't give me those. I do get them, but this didn't aggravate or increase those. I saw less bumps actually.

What's in it:

It is described by Ultraderm as "a luxurious yet lightweight blend of restorative botanical oils, Vitamin A and Vitamin E to deeply nourish and soften the skin. It can be used directly on the skin as well as in the bath for a nutritive soak."

Promised benefits are:

  • Strengthens the skins barrier function

  • Reduces Trans-epidermal water loss

  • Provides a nutrient boost to the skin

  • Enhances skin softness

  • Assists skin to become more supple

  • Paraben free

It definitely delivered all of the above for me. I really started noticing results 3-5 days in. As for ingredients, a fairly short list of mostly plant oils. There is a "cucumber fragrance" in the ingredients list. I wasn't too bothered by that as I smelt most of the oils first. I'm not sure if the "cucumber" is naturally derived but if you are afraid of chemical fragrances, do a patch test. I learnt from a friend of mine that did a diploma in beauty product formulations that generally, the fragrance potion is like 2-3 grains of sugar.

An Elixir for the body - MUKTI Bioactive Bath & Body Elixir 200ml

MUKTI Bioactive Body Elixir 200ml

My thoughts:

I've reviewed MUKTI products before. If you want to read about best products for acne prone combination skin, check it out by clicking here.

I like the brand MUKTI and what is stands for. This product is made for all skin types.

One big selling point about this Elixir is that it is made from a blend of 18 of the world’s most precious, botanical oils including Prickly Pear, Baobab, Sea Buckthorn Berries and Australian native extracts of Rosella and Kangaroo Paw Flowers. Prickly Pear oil is quite pricey on its own.

Like the body serum above, you apply it on slightly damp skin after showering. This one looked and had the texture of very light extra virgin oil. It smelt a bit medicinal to me. It smells strongly of spearmint in the beginning but that smell very quickly goes away.

This absorbs very quickly. I could just feel it sinking in and plumping up my skin. It says to wait before applying clothing. You won't have to wait long. It is almost instant.

I get skin rashes sometimes. I just get random allergies all the time. This elixir helped me with those. Could be because of the blend of jojoba, olive and kangaroo paw in the ingredients. I thought it might have tea tree oil or eucalyptus oil in it, as there is that "minty" feeling, but nope, it actually has spearmint oil.

This makes my skin feel silky and smooth. Spots and bumps are less obvious. It is also helping the scars on my body heal.

My husband also uses this. We both enjoy the minty feeling from the spearmint and the silky soft skin we get from it.

With two people using it, and at 200ml, I think it is worth the price. If two people use it once everyday, the bottle should last about 6 -7 months. Note also that it does contain some expensive ingredients.

Just like the above body serum, for those who are worried about back acne, this didn't give me those. I do get them, but this didn't aggravate or increase those. I saw less bumps actually.

What's in it:

MUKTI describes it as "An exotic infusion of 18 of the world’s most precious, botanical oils including Prickly Pear, Baobab, Sea Buckthorn Berries and Australian native extracts of Rosella and Kangaroo Paw Flowers. Hydrating essential fatty acids, phytonutrients and phytoceramides are gently hand blended and work to enhance and stimulate cell turnover, elasticity and protect against free radicals. This golden elixir deeply penetrates and restores moisture creating a luminous, smooth glow to your body to target cellulite, stretch marks and skin imperfections."

Yup, it did all that it promised. For me, the added benefit was healing my scars and rashes.

Body Oil - House of Immortelle Relax Rose Massage & Body Oil 100ml

House of Immortelle Relax Rose Massage & Body Oil 100ml
My thoughts:

This is described as a light wear spray on body oil. The "spray-on" was what I thought was unique. Most body products come in tubs or pump dispenser containers.

I thought with that description, that it would come out like a mist of oil suspended in water. I don't know what I was thinking. This squirts out. So be careful.

It is definitely light weight, compared to say, Jurlique's Rose Body Oil. I do like the lightness of this. This absorbs fairly quickly as well. It does smell strongly of roses, so my husband wasn't too interested. That was ok, more oil for me.

When I mention the rose scent, I would say that it doesn't smell sickly of heavy rose. This is delicately scented with the Damask Rose that they use in it.

You get to see the good results almost immediately. Skin looks glowy, feels so much smoother and silkier.

I found that the scent of the Geranium and Fragonia were very soothing to my mind. Very relaxing and helped my anxiety. For this reason, I got through this bottle pretty quickly as I used it as a bath oil. I think it was worth it. My skin was super soft after and my body and mind felt more relaxed.

Also no issues with clogged pores and getting back acne.

What's in it:

House of Immotelle describes it as: "a lightweight spray-on body oil scented with Damask Rose, intensely hydrates, replenishes the skin. The fresh Rose scent is complemented by pure essential oils of Geranium & Fragonia, a botanical known for balancing and relaxing the body and mind. Jojoba and Rosehip oils nourish and soften the skin."

It is 100% natural plant oils, free from artificial fragrances & colours, parabens free, alcohol free, silicon free, mineral oil free, easily absorbed skin oil.

Product promises:

  • Hydrates and replenishes skin

  • Balancing Rose & Geranium scent nourishes the senses

  • Enhancing well-being and relaxation

Definitely lives up to the above.

INGREDIENTS

Glycine soja (Soya Bean) oil, Prunus amygdalus dulcis (Sweet Almond) oil, Sorbitan Trioleate (Vegetable derived dispersant), Triticum vulgare (Wheatgerm) oil, Simmondsia chinensis (Jojoba) oil, Rosa rubiginosa (Rosehip Seed) oil, Tocopherol, Ascorbyl palmitate, Sambucus nigra fruit extract, *Rosa damascene (Rose), *Pelargonium graveolens (Geranium), *#Lavandula angustifolia (Organic True Lavender), *Agonis fragrans (Fragonia), *Cedrus atlantica (Altas Cerdawood), *Cananga odorata (Ylang Ylang)

A Body Stone - Kate Mcleod Sleep Stone 100g

Kate Mcleod Sleep Stone 100g
My thoughts:

I've left the best for last. I am so drwn in by unique packaging and concepts. This product ticked every box. I first saw this at Onda Beauty (Co-founded by @naomiwatts & @lariluvs). It is a spa and shop that focuses on clean beauty. I had a skincare treatment at Onda Beauty and it was amazing. I've been invited back for a longer treatment which I will blog about after it happens (we're in pandemic lockdown now so I have to wait a few months).

ANYWAY, this is a gorgeous product. It is a solid moisturizer, made with all clean ingredients. The packaging is unique. It comes in a bamboo box, and you slide the cover open. Nestled inside is the solid moisturizer (what Kate Mcleod calls a "stone") wrapped in a bit of muslin cloth (lots of uses) and the box itself being made from bamboo is environmentally friendly.

There are a few different "stones" - from a Daily stone to Mama stone; to a Sex stone. There are six in total. Each is shaped like a round stone. The tactile pleasure/hand feel is gorgeous.

You use it by taking out the stone, warming it in your hands and then "rubbing" the stone against your skin. During warmer months, I would recommend holding the stone using the supplied muslin - less messy.

It goes on smoothly like a dream and feels so good. This instantly melts into you skin. The closest "feeling" I can describe it as is that it feels like those natural organic deodorants but not crumbly. Very smooth. At room temperature it maintains its solid form. It only "melts" on contact with your hands/body.

You apply this on dry skin. I've made a bit of a ritual of using this. It is a bit pricey (but worth it) so I don't use it every day. I usually use it once a week as a special pamper treat.

I did not have any issues with clogging of pores and back acne with this product either.

I chose the Sleep Stone, because sleep for me is so important. I get even more depressed and anxious if I can't sleep. The calming scent of lavender and camomile from this stone works well for me. When I use it, I feel like a baby. All wrapped up in a nice warm cozy blanket. I'm in love with it.

What's in it:

Kate Mcleod describes it as: "The Sleep Stone is a soothing blend that’s perfect for bedtime or whenever you need a dose of instant calm. Chamomile cools, quiets, and centers; lavender invites relaxation, encourages compassion, and eases anxiety."

"A Body Stone is a solid moisturizer that intensely nourishes all skin types. Solid at room temperature, it softens when it comes into contact with warm, dry skin. As you smooth it over your body, it melts and absorbs, leaving skin soft, supple and glowing. Use daily for a magic moment of self care."
