A review of Coach's Floral Blush Eau De Parfum. Floral Blush is a 2019 release and an addition to their "Coach The Fragrance" line of which there are 3 other fragrances - the original being Coach The Fragrance (2016)".

Coach Floral Boom Review

Recently, I received the most beautiful press package filled with roses and Coach's new Floral Bloom Eau de Parfum. I've been testing out this new fragrance for a while now and here is my review of Coach Floral Bloom.

Review of Coach Floral Bloom Eau de Parfum

I always feel that the design of a perfume's bottle enhances the entire sensorial experience. It is the first thing you see! So let's start there.

The "Coach The Fragrance" line is inspired by Coach's signature leather tea roses that adorns some of their bags and comes in key chains that you can purchase individually (see below for examples) - hence the very pretty leather tea rose that comes with the bottle.

"How does it look?"

I believe it was love at first sight. The bottle has an ombre pink blush tone starting from the bottom upwards. The glass bottle is embossed with the "Coach" logo. Around the top where the nozzle is a very interesting leather (not sure if it is real or faux) "tag" that sticks out and has a little key chain with a leather flower and a metal tag with "Coach" embossed on it.

The bottle is shaped like an "oval-ish" rectangle and fits into my hand. It is really nice to hold (I don't think you read many fragrance reviews saying "I like how it feels in my hand"). It has a "solid glass" feel to it that think makes it rather more luxurious. The nozzle comes as a two-tier silver metal and the actual nozzle is shaped like a rectangle.

Overall, a very pretty bottle and a nice one to display on your vanity.

It is available in 30ml, 50ml and 90ml. The one I have reviewed here is the 90ml size.

Pricing is pretty good - around AUD80 (30ml) - AUD150 (90ml). Prices vary depending on where you purchase them.

"How does it smell?"

It is generally recognised as a "floral woody musk" fragrance. I wouldn't say it is overly musky. It is more floral than woody musk. At first sniff, you can a very clear "view" of roses and blush tones.

This fragrance gives me a sense of joy, celebration, and first love. It is quite a fresh scent.

Coach describes it as "The Fruity, floral scent opens with sparkling notes of Goji Berries and Grapefruit. The heart reveals a velvety bouquet of fragrant Peonies with a splash of fresh Peach before drying down to delicate White Woods and sensual musks."

The key notes are:

  • Top notes - Tea Roses and Goji Berries (quite unexpected! I don't think I have come across a fragrance with Goji Berries yet. I like the unique semi-sweet fruitiness this adds to Coach's Floral Bloom). There is some citrus in it as well - a bit of Bergamot possibly.

  • Heart note: Peonies (one of my favourite flowers). There is also a touch of citrus in there I believe. There is a juicy fruity tone to the heart note of peaches/nectarines.

  • Base Notes: White Woods and Musks. "White Woods" aren't exactly "woods" but rather a woody smelling aromachemical that doesn't exactly smell like any particular actual wood species. The "white" is meant to describe it as being "light and mild'. In this fragrance, I think it comes across as a light mix of cedar and green cypress.

This fragrance was created by Juliette Karaguezoglou. Other fragrances that she is the nose of include "Coach The Fragrance - for Women (2016)"; "Armani Privi Laque" and one of my favourites "Un Air de Bretagne - L'Artisan Parfumeur".

"How long does it last?"

The longevity of Coach Floral Bloom is quite good. On me it lasted for 5-6 hours. It does dry down to a lovely fruity fresh musk. It is a good and versatile all-day fragrance and suits summer nights.

"How does it compare to the other Coach The Fragrance scents?"

"Coach The Fragrance (2016)" is more fruit and berry-like with raspberries, pears and goji berries. It also has a bit more spice with the addition of pepper. It also has base notes of sandalwood and suede. The bottle is overall "gold".

"Coach Floral (2018)", is more floral and woody. It has a floral wood musk with top notes of peppercorn and pineapple. It also has heart notes of rose tea, jasmine and base notes of patchouli and musk. The bottle is overall "rose gold".

I personally feel that there is enough of a difference from the others to justify purchasing Coach Floral Bloom. If you have the others, think how pretty the three would look together on your vanity.

"Comparable Fragrances?"

If you like "Jean Paul Gaultier For Her" and "Stella McCartney Stella", you will like "Coach The Floral Bloom". Other comparable scents are "Giorgio Armani Si Fiori" and "Narciso Rodriguez For Her Fleur Musc".

"Final Thoughts?"

Overall, this fresh and fruity scent is a lovely romantic and feminine scent that suits all-day wear. It is a nice one for Spring/Summer but I would wear it all day round. I love the luxurious bottle and think it looks very nice on my vanity with the rest of my collection. It is not an overpowering sickly sweet scent. I think it will match most people's "own scent chemistry" (i.e. I think it will smell quite nice on most people no matter their own person smell (yes, everyone has their own personal smell)).
