Fresh Beauties


Hello Friends! Cult Skincare Brand "Fresh Beauty" has finally arrived in Australia. Touted as "the biggest skincare launch of 2018", Australia was covered in roses for a week! Fresh Beauty products are now available exclusively to Sephora Australia. You can shop in store or online (@sephoraaus).

Last week on March 27th 2018, I was invited as part of the blogger community by Sephora to attend an evening session to celebrate the launch of Fresh in Australia. Not only did I get to meet and briefly chat with founders of Fresh; Lev Glazman and Alina Roytberg and learn about how Fresh was created, I was also gifted a very generous box of Fresh Goodies. Thank you Sephora!

Fresh Skincare was launched in 1991 in Boston USA. The first product that brought sparked off the "Fresh Craze" was the launch of their iconic oval soaps. Now Fresh has skincare, lip care, bodycare, and fragrances. To learn more about Fresh click here!

I have tried Fresh skincare products before (I would buy them from the USA) and hence I feel confident enough to give you my thoughts on the products featured in this post. Generally, I like to test luxe skincare for a reasonable length of time (at least 3 months) before writing about them.

The products I was gifted are (我将会讨论这些产品):

  • Fresh Life soap bar

  • Soy Fresh Face Cleanser

  • Rose Face Mask

  • Deep Rose Hydration Face Cream

  • Lotus Youth Preserve Face Cream

  • Sample size Rose Deep Hydration Facial Toner


The first ever Fresh product I tried was their Sugar Lip Treatments. Highly moisturising, the main active ingredients in them are:

  • Sugar which is known to be a natural humectant, to help prevent loss of moisture.

  • A mix of nourishing moisturising oils, which meadowfoam and black currant seed oils.

  • Grape seed oil which helps to smooth and soften and rich in antioxidants.

The Sugar Advanced Lip treatment contains Sea Fennel to help reduce lines and also Orange extract to help protect the lips. There are a number of tinted versions. The one shown above is the Rose Tinted one and it also has SPF 15.

One of the main things that drew me to try these was the unique packaging. It is luxe, has the look and feel of porcelain and it screws shut. You might think "oh it screws shut, big deal!", but actually I found this to be most practical as I have had so many lip balms dry up on me because the caps have fallen off.

They have a light and smooth texture. They melt into the lips. Since they are made of sugar, it is not surprising that they smell like brown sugar with a hint of vanilla. The Rose Tinted one has a light rose scent. They both have a noticeable citrus taste. Not unpleasant.

Fresh's iconic oval soaps were the first products that made Fresh famous. These oval soaps come in a variety of scents and ingredients. The one above is called the "Fresh Life Oval Soap". The oval soaps are vegetable based soaps and each are hand wrapped. They are dense and hard soaps and I found that they generally lasted for a long time. The "Fresh Life Oval Soap" has moisturizing shea butter and is infused with a citrus scent. Each soap is tied with a thin wire which has a semi-precious stone attached to it. I quite enjoy Fresh's Soy Fresh Face Cleanser. It is a light gel cleanser that smells like fresh cucumbers with a hint of rose. This cleanser is meant to suit all skin types. It does not foam up much (I like cleansers that foam up) but it does leave the skin feeling clean and refreshed. My face did not feel tight after using it. It is a very gentle cleanser. It is fairly effective in removing makeup, but if you are wearing long wear makeup, I would suggest double cleansing.

The active ingredients are:

  • Amino acid-rich soy proteins to help maintain elasticity and healthy skin.

  • Rosewater to help calm and balance the skin.

  • Cucumber extract to sooth the skin.

  • Borage seed oil to nourish the skin.

“Soy Fresh Face Cleanser”是一款轻盈的凝胶型洁面乳。 它非常温和，适合所有皮肤类型。 它有新鲜的黄瓜和玫瑰香味。 成分包括氨基酸，黄瓜提取物，玫瑰水和琉璃苣籽油。 这款洁面乳没有泡沫。 使用后，我的脸感觉柔软清新。 如果您持续使用化妆品，我建议您也可以使用其他产品彻底清洁您的皮肤。

Fresh is famous for their rose products. They have quite a range of skincare products made from roses.

In the above photo is the Rose Deep Hydration Face Cream. This is a light weight moisturiser that almost feels like a gel moisturiser. It is light and airy. The active ingredients are:

  • Hydropatches for a protective moisturizing veil to help attract and retain moisture.

  • Angelica leaf extract is known to help retain moisture.

  • An advanced combination of hyaluronic acids helps attract and increase moisture for deep hydration.

  • Rosewater helps to soothe and rose flower oil helps to nourish.

  • Plum seed oil helps to hydrate and maintain a healthy-looking complexion

It smells exactly like rose water (think: "rose flavoured turkish delights"). It is refreshing, light and effective. Though it is advertised as a moisturiser for normal to dry skin, I found that it worked well on my oily combination dehydrated skin. It has a 24 hour time release. I used this during the dryer and colder months and it worked well under my makeup. Some may not like the strong rose scent but I found it quite relaxing.

Each of the tubs of Fresh skincare come with a unique seal which you can see above. It is hard to remove and tends to leave a mark. This is a good thing! You are always assured that if the seal is intact, the product is fresh. The packaging of Fresh's products is very clean and simple. I quite like that. The tubs feel heavy and hence a bit more luxurious.


One of my favourite Fresh products is the Rose Face Mask. I think it is pretty neat! I feel like I have just had a spa treatment after I use it. It is made from real rose petals.

It has a very interesting light gel texture. You can see bits of rose petals in it and it has a tea-stain colour. As it feels like a light gel, it is quite different to the most masks I have used. You leave it on for 5-10 minutes (I like to leave it on for longer). It is suitable for all skin types. My skin feels nourished, firmer and looks brighter and most definitely feels well hydrated. This also smells just like rose flavoured turkish delights. I'm almost tempted to dig a spoon in and eat it!

The active ingredients are:

  • Pure rosewater.

  • Cucumber extract and aloe vera gel.

  • Porphyridium cruentum, a "smart" algae.

  • Antioxidant-rich green tea.

It is quite a refreshing mask to use during the hotter months. I like to keep mine in the fridge for that extra soothing and calming effect. The unique gel texture does not feel tacky at all. I think I once forgot to rinse it off (my skin looked great).

I thought it might be interesting for you to see its light gel-like texture with the little bits of rose petals in it.


One of the younger range of products from Fresh is the Lotus Youth Preserve line. They have just released a Youth Preserve Rescue Mask.

This was my first time using the Lotus Youth Preserve Cream, so I can only give you my first impressions. It is advertised as moisturiser "formulated with a proprietary Super 7 Complex that’s proven to provide 24 hours of significant moisture".

The active ingredients are (7 hence the "Super 7 complex" name):

  • Lotus flower extract, sourced from Laos, which is meant to have wrinkle-causing free radicals.

  • Blue-green algae extract to help minimize early signs of aging.

  • Hibiscus fruit extract for hydration.

  • Fig fruit extract to help preserve ideal moisture levels.

  • Vitamin C for its antioxidant and protective properties.

  • Vitamin E.

  • Vegetable glycerol attracts water and seals in moisture.

It is meant to be suitable for all skin types. Although the texture is lighter than other creams, it has a light gel like consistency. However, it does not feel as light as the Rose Deep Hydration Face Cream. It absorbs fairly quickly and does not feel tacky. I found that my skin felt and looked moisturised. It does smell a lot like cucumbers. I wish there was more of a fig scent to it (I love cucumbers but not as much as I love figs). It kept my oily T-zone in check for maybe 1-2 hours.

My overall first impressions of it was, that it was moisturising but I can't really say if it is super moisturising compared to the Rose Deep Hydration Face Cream. I think I preferred the texture of the Rose cream. I did include it as part of my nighttime face routine a couple of times and I did not wake up to an oil slick of a face.

I wasn't terribly impressed by the scent. I found it a bit annoying but it did go away after a while. I'll have to take a raincheck on this one. Perhaps it might be more suitable for my oily dehydrated combination skin in Winter. I do note that when I was doing a "patch-test" on my hands (I have very very very dry skin all over my body), that my hands did look remarkably smoother and more toned (hurray!).

Oh milky goodness. It is a "creamier" moisturiser than the Rose Deep Hydration Face Cream but it did still feel gel-like.


I gotta say, I LOVE this mask! The Black Tea Instant Perfecting Mask does instant wonders. Very aptly named. It has the most interesting texture. When I first opened the tub, I was expecting it to be gel or clay like and have a dark colour. I was obviously mistaken. Fresh described the texture as "velvety whipped". Indeed. It felt like velvet, looked a bit like a hybrid clay-gel thingie. It is hard to describe the texture accurately, uhmm maybe like the soft chewy part of a good pavlova, or something like that. It has a pleasant fragrance, less cucumber, a touch of rose and a hint of English Breakfast Tea. Delish!

The active ingredients are:

  • Black tea ferment (well documented to have lots of antioxidants).

  • Lychee seed extract which is meant to maintain the skin’s elasticity.

  • Polysaccharides to help smooth the skin. (p.s. I did google this.)

  • Jicama root juice for its hydrating and nourishing properties.

You apply it on clean skin and leave it on for 5-10 minutes. I like to leave my masks on for longer than the recommended time (mostly because I sometimes forget I have a mask on when I am using Fresh's products, which is a good thing, I think).

My skin definitely feels refreshed and moisturised. It also has a cooling effect to soothe the skin. This is another mask that I like to keep in the fridge. This mask has won a few awards and deservedly so. It seems to smooth out those bits of my face that I want smoothed out. My skin also looks a brighter after using this. There is a nighttime version which is a "sleeping mask" which I really want to try.

Look at it! It reminds me a bit of cake mixture. But it feels so velvety smooth when applied.


Another of their "hero" products is the Rose Deep Hydration Facial Toner. I have used it before and (regrettably) I have tossed out the empty bottle. It is a very pretty product. You see rose petals swirling around in this golden delicious liquid. It does smell like rose water. It feels refreshing on the skin and is fairly effective at removing the remnants of my makeup (after washing it). It did not leave my skin feeling dry or tight. I remember that I liked it very much, so I think I will add it to my Sephora wish list. The active ingredients are:

  • Rose fruit extract es.

  • Rosewater and rose flower oil.

  • Angelica leaf extract.

  • Hyaluronic acid.

I definitely want to get another of this after I have finished my (many) toners. I do recall that I did not feel the need to apply a moisturiser after using this.

The week that Australia was covered in roses. I took this photo of this display set up outside Pitt Street's Sephora. The whole of Sephora was decked out in these huge gorgeous roses. I guess people who were new to the Fresh brand must have thought "Well then, its all coming out roses isn't it?".
