These are my absolute favourite scents/brands of fragrances (excluding the new Chanel No. 5). Some of them are new releases that are fast becoming cult favourites and some of them are 'good old faves' you can always count on. Here is some "gift inspo" for you.

Let's start with one of my go-to brands. Say Hello to Nest Fragrances. 让我们从一个我可以信赖的品牌开始。这是Nest Fragrances。
I can't really remember when I got hooked on them, but let's say it's been a long time. I even included one of their gift sets in my 2014 X'mas Gift Guide on Youtube (click on the photo below if you want to watch it. The gift guide is pretty much evergreen).

Nest Fragrances was first launched in 2008. It has recently hit the Australian shores and is exclusive to Sephora. I was privileged to attend the influencers session to hear about Nest Fragrances from the founder herself, Laura Slatkin (who looks like Jackie O in her Kennedy years). It was so fascinating to hear about how she got inspired to create each fragrance (there are now seven in the range). It's hard for me describe my creative process but, she so eloquently shared with us how the brand was created, evolved and continues to grow.

It is hard to choose a favourite as I do love all of them. Fragrances should match your mood I think, and I am one complicated person!

My top three would be "Citrine"; "Verde" (which I feel is unisex) and "Indigo" (not only does it smell good, but one of my fave jazz songs is called "Mood Indigo" by Due Ellington and Barney Bigard).
Citrine Eau de Parfum: Lemon Blossom, Lotus Flower, Freesia, Dew Drop Accord, Precious Woods. Mood: Happiness, Joyful. Bright. To me, this brings back memories of happy times. I wear when I want to smell fresh, light and feel happy.

When I smell it, it reminds me of that very moment when the rain stops falling and the sun hits the grass. It's quite evocative for me. This scent is unisex and my husband loves it.

Indigo Eau de Parfum: Moroccan Tea, Kashmir Wood, Cardamom, Wild Fig. Mood: Warm, Musky, Sexy. This is a fragrance I wear if I'm having a romantic dinner date with my husband. It's a deep and complex scent and I can definitely sense the tannins from the tea and a bit of fruitiness.

"Daisy" has notes of berries and violet, accented by the rich scents of birch and cedar wood. This fragrance smells exactly like a daisy. Sunny, chirpy and adored by all. 这款香水闻起来有浆果和紫罗兰色，由桦木和雪松木香味浓郁。 这款香水闻起来就像一朵雏菊。 晴朗，啁啾和所有赞赏。

This year, we get the super luxe version all in glam gold. "Decadence" is a very complex scent. It has top notes of Italian plum, iris flower, and saffron. The heart combines luxurious notes of Bulgarian rose, jasmine sambac, and orris. The indulgent dry down reveals the base notes of vetiver, papyrus woods, and liquid amber. Wow. That is a lot of notes going on there.

I adore the design of the bottle of this latest NARCISO eau de parfum. It is simple yet so chic. I actually find it quite stunning because of it's clean lines. I think part of a fragrance's allure is the design of the bottle. It is what hits the senses first and draws you in to try the scent.

This has woody notes and white florals, with a strong middle note of musc. To me, the first scent that hits the nose is that of sun dried fresh linen, then a slight sweetness followed by a bit of sandalwood. The scent of the musc does come through quite strongly once this warms up. 这个香水闻起来像木和白色的花香，和一个强烈的中间麝香。
You cannot have a perfume gift guide without including at least one YSL perfume. It would be madness! My very first perfume was "Parisienne", a gift from my brother. This year's pick is "Mon Paris" pictured above with it's companion eyeshadow compact.
"Mon Paris Eau de Parfum" is everything what Paris means to you. Something a little different for everyone. If you have had the opportunity to visit Paris, I think you will get what I'm trying to say. I've been there three times, and on one occasion stayed for 6 weeks. Every day is different and special in Paris. C'est paris à moi! “Mon Paris Eau de Parfum”是巴黎对你意味着的一切。 对于每个人来说有点不同。
It is super cute and makes a great addition to your vanity table. The scent is light, bubbly and sweet but not overpowering. I feel like it is a lighter version of the "Parisienne". It has notes of white chypre, white petaled musk, datura accord and patchouli.

Commodity Goods is a new discovery for me. This is a relatively new brand and I first discovered it at the Sephora Exclusive Brands Showcase A/W16.

I'm afraid I am going to use the word "cool" over and over again when I describe Commodity Goods. I am obsessed with this brand.
The collection is divided into two: "Black" and "White". I want all of them except maybe for "Whiskey" as I'm not quite into the "whiskey and cigar" scent.
In the Black series, there is: Whiskey, Book, Moss, Wool and Gin. Although the scents can be classified as unisex, these lean more to what I might call the "manly" scents.

Clean Reserve has an especially remarkable range of fragrances. It is an offshoot of the brand "Clean".

The concept behind this brand is "Sustainable Beauty". The cap of each bottle is made from Oak sourced from Spain. The fragrances are sourced from sustainable ingredients. The alcohol used is made from corn and they have incorporated aloe vera into the fragrances for added soothing properties.

sueded oud: notes of wood, citron and floral. This is a creamy, reimagined approach to traditional oud fragrances. The combination strikes a fine balance between brighter and darker facets of fragrance. It has a definite oriental flavour to it as I can smell the spiciness. The citrus notes lift the scent and makes it refreshing. "sueded oud" can be used as the base for layering other Clean Reserve Scents.

blonde rose: notes of rose, jasmine, and peony. I can detect the rose and peony as the top notes and a lingering jasmine scent. Jasmine is a scent I associate with my childhood as we had a huge jasmin bush in the neighbourhood. During the warmer months, it was all we could smell at night.

rain [reserve blend]: notes of fruity floral notes blended with fresh patchouli vetiver and musks. "Rain" from the Clean Range is one of my favourites. It just creates this image of the sun coming out after the rain and warming those drops of rain on blades of grass. This has a very fresh and joyful feel about it. I can smell earthy tones, definitely the patchouli and musks, and a sweetness from the florals. There is a hint of honey to it.

warm cotton [reserve blend]: notes of floral and musks. This is the companion to Clean's famous "Warm Cotton" fragrance. This scent hits you immediately with it refreshing and clean tone. The first note I get is lemon, then a mix of roses, lilac and peonies, followed by the musk. This remains a fresh and clean scent all day long as it warms up on your skin.
